Ensemble Kyai Fatahillah is a group which members have been consistently exploring and developing new musical concepts based on traditional musical styles from Sunda (West Java). An invitation to perform in Germany, at the ‘Haus der Kulturen der Welt’ for the Asia-Pacific ‘Space and Shadow’ art festival brought this group its first international recognition. The group often performs, presenting compositions by various artists, and ranging from traditional Sundanese to the contemporary. The members of the group are young and talented musicians, who share the same vision of opening a musical discourse in Indonesia.

The group specializes in presenting compositions from four musical styles: they play traditional Sundanese gamelan, contemporary gamelan compositions, percussion and electro-acoustic music. Some of the venues where the group has played are ‘Space and Shadow’ Festival (Berlin, Germany); ‘Tribute to – Dutch composer - Ton De Leeuw’ (in Jakarta, Jogja, Solo, 2006); Cantus Music Centre: ‘Hariring Persib’, arr. of a composition by well known composer Kang Ibing). They have made a compilation album, ‘Bandung’ and worked for ‘Garasi’, a film soundtrack. They were also part of ‘Sound of Earth’ (Sabuga, Bandung).
